France and Korea succeed in the Hungarian Junior Open

17/02/2008 - Team events have finished with France and Korea winning the gold medals at the Hungarian Junior Open Championships in Kecskemét. Young team, France 2 consisting of mainly cadet players, was impressive during the day. Simon GAUZY contributed the most to the victory, winning 7 matches and losingSans-titre-copie-5.JPG only one.
France 2 beat Korea, Romania, Hungary and Poland on the way to the gold medal.
Meanwhile in the girl’s competition both Korean teams reached the final. Nobody could stop the Asians, not even Hungary 2 team, which caused the biggest surprise by beating first seeded Romania in the group. The most promising players of Hungary, Krisztina AMBRUS , Dóra MADARASZ and Kata TOTH had no problem until the semifinal where they lost by the closest margin against the eventual champion, Korea 2.
Host nation could be satisfied with its boy’s team as well, Dániel KOSIBA, Péter SEBESTYEN, Dániel SCHAFFER and Martin PALATINUS finished third in the same way as the girls.
The competition continues with the individuals, as second event on the ITTF World Junior Circuit.
